Owners Manual
When your hot tub is delivered, our team will show you all of the controls on your hot tub and make sure you know which button does what.
This can be a lot of information to take in at once, so we recommend that you read through the owners manual that you would have been given.
If you have lost your copy of your owners manual, please email us with your hot tub serial number, and we will be able to send you a PDF copy. You will be able to find the serial number of your hot tub on your warranty document.
Water Sanitisation Options & Instructions
The water in your hot tub should be crystal clear at all times. Cloudiness or colouration means that there is some form of bacteria in your water. Shock treatment can kill this bacteria. To prevent the water from turning cloudy or colouring, we recommend you follow these instructions carefully and maintain the correct levels of sanitiser at all times.
Wash off any make up or hair products before using your hot tub.
Wash your bathing suit in water only
Try not to get grass, mud or any other foreign products in your hot tub
Sanitiser Options
When we deliver your hot tub, we will provide you with a chemical starter pack, free of charge. The sanitiser inside this pack will either be Bromine or Chlorine, the default chemical starter pack contains Bromine. If you would prefer to use the chlorine system, please let us know before we deliver your hot tub. Both sanitisers will provide you will peace of mind that your hot tub will stay free from harmful bacteria, as long as you follow the directions carefully. Water Sanistation is not complicated, and becomes second nature once you are into a routine.
An alternative sanitiser to Bromine & Chlorine is AquaFinesse.
AquaFinesse is a once a week treatment, with no official testing needed.
AquaFinesse works simply by loosening the bio film (slimy layers) from their substrate, to keep your pool and hot tub clean. AquaFinesse products are to be used with traditional sanitisers to maintain a minimum level of 1.5-ppm chlorine in the spa water, (National Spa and Pool Institute (NSPI) recommendation). To meet these standards, we strongly suggest using the provided sanitising tablets as directed in the slow-release dispenser. We also do not recommend using AquaFinesse in brand new hot tubs, until after the first water change.
As well as ensuring that the correct level of sanitiser is present in your hot tub at all times, it is important that the PH level is balanced. This will stop the components of the hot tub from corroding.
Sanitiser Instructions
Bromine & Chlorine Instructions:
Every 3-7 days use a test strip to check the sanitiser & ph levels in your hot tub and add the required chemicals. You can either place the sanitising tablets into a floating dispenser or directly into the filter tray.
Once a week, take the filters out of your hot tub and hose off before returning.
Every 3 months drain the water out of your hot tub and replace it with fresh water. For more details of how to perform a water change, please click here.
During this time, we advise that you take the filters out of your hot tub and soak them overnight in filter cleaner solution. If possible allow your filters to dry completely before replacing them into your hot tub. A spare set of filters can be purchase from our online shop.
PLEASE NOTE: We strongly advise that you change the water in your hot tub within the first month of your installation date.
AquaFinesse Instructions:
Pour the correct amount of AquaFinesseâ„¢ (as indicated on the bottle) into the water.
Place one sanitiser tablet in the slow-release dispenser, close the cap, fill with water and place the dispenser directly on top of the filter tray. Check the dispenser once a week to make sure the tablets are still intact.
Turn on the jets for a minimum of two minutes to activate the AquaFinesseâ„¢ water care system.
Repeat the treatment once a week, on a set day.
Clean the filter at least once a week to ensure total cleansing.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend using this system before your first water change. We recommend you change the water of a newly installed hot tub within one month of the installation date.
Performing a Water Change
Water changes should be carried out every 3 months to ensure that the water in your hot tub is of optimum quality. For brand new hot tubs, we recommend carrying out the first water change within 1 month of the date you took delivery of your hot tub.
PLEASE ISOLATE THE POWER SUPPLY TO YOUR HOT TUB BEFORE CARRYING OUT A WATER CHANGE.
Locate the drain valve at the bottom of the exterior of your hot tub and follow the instructions as per your hot tub model below.
Round Spas
|
The drain tap is located inside the hot tub, so will require the removal of the panel. Take off the dust cap and open the drain tap whilst directing the hosepipe to your desired soak away.
|
Sapphire Spas with grey & black drain valves
|
Remove the dust cap and fit the provided hoselock adapter and your hosepipe to the valve. Turn the hoselock adapter and valve anti-clockwise to fully release the valve.
|
Sapphire Spas with black drain valves
|
Remove the dust cap and attach the provided hoselock adapter and your hosepipe to the valve. Pull the valve to fully separate the two threads
|
| Olympic Spas | Remove the dust cap and fit a hoselock adapter (not provided) and your hosepipe to the valve. Turn the hoselock adapter and valve anti-clockwise to fully release the valve. |
Alternatively, you can purchase a submersible pump that will drain your hot tub in a shorter timeframe.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU CLOSE THE DRAIN VALVE FULLY BEFORE REFILLING YOUR HOT TUB.
Once your hot tub is drained, we recommend wiping the surface to remove any tide marks, not forgetting to wipe behind the headrests. Please use a soft cloth that is free from any dust or dirt particles to ensure that your hot tub surface is not scratched.
Sapphire Leisure also recommend soaking the filters overnight in filter cleaning solution. Ideally they should then be dried thoroughly before placing in your hot tub. Spare filters can be purchased from our showrooms or online shop.
To refill your hot tub, make sure that the drain valve is closed, then fill with your hosepipe.
Once the water level is above the top jets, you can turn the power to your hot tub back on.
The hot tub should automatically prime itself and start to heat the water. Sometimes air can get into the pipes and create an error message on your hot tub.
This can be resolved by taking the cabinet panel underneath the controls off and locating the union joints that are either side of the control box. The colour of this box will depend on which model of spa you have. Please isolate the power beforehand.
Untighten one of the union joints and prize the two sections of pipe apart slightly. You should hear air coming out. When it is only water coming out, tighten the union joint back up and turn your hot tub back on.

Hot Tub Maintenance
Water treatment is the main area of hot tub maintenance, as detailed above; however there are a few things that will help to improve the efficiency and longevity of your hot tub.
Turn off the air valves when your hot tub is not in use and make sure all of the jets are open, to ensure the maximum level of filterage.
Ensure that your hot tub water has the correct level of PH; unbalanced PH can cause corrosion of the jets, headrests and thermal cover, which will invalidate your warranty. For details about balancing PH levels, please see the water sanitising section.
Wash your filters off with clean water at least once a fortnight. Please make sure the pumps or filter cycle is not active when you remove the filters.
Perform water changes every 3 months and clean the hot tub surface as described in the water change section above.
Wash your bathing costumes in water without washing detergent, as the detergent can cause surface foam.
Use acrylic or plastic glassware when in your hot tub, as glass can scratch the surface and has the potential for accidents.
To preserve the cabinet colour on the cedar cabinet hot tubs, we recommend staining it once a year. You can buy the stain from any DIY store.
The thermal cover can be washed with warm water, using a soft cloth. If it is in direct sunlight, we recommend treating the cover with 303 UV protector, which can be purchased from our showrooms or online shop.
When opening the hot tub cover, please lift one of the corners first to break the vacuum, the handles are designed to assist with manovering the hot tub cover and can become damaged if pulled on to break the vacuum. We also do not advise using the skirt of the cover to break the vacuum either.
